Sundays Best
It’s a rainy day here in Massachusetts. It was a rainy spring and summer and now fall. I can’t help but wonder what our winter will turn out to be. I haven’t been painting as much in the last week or so. I guess life just gets in the way. I did manage to do a few Sunday but none turned out to be anything exciting.
I like the one on the left because it has a lot of movement. The middle I feel got washed out by the white paint. The right is just, I don’t know, its just not doing it for me.
I find that art is pretty hard since it’s so subjective. What may look cool to me, doesn’t always look cool to anyone else. In fact, it hardly ever does. I’ve started making videos of my pours. I’m not sure whether those are interesting but I know I love watching other people’s videos on Instagram and YouTube. I’ve learned a lot from those videos. The middle painting did give me some of my desired effect of the chameleon type cell, which is great. I would like to do more like that without the washout effect. I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos of other people doing it and I’m hoping to get my like theirs.
I’ve upgraded to disposable cookie sheets to do my pours on. Those are working out well and I don’t feel completely wasteful since I can wash them and reuse. I also bought some containers to keep extra paint in. It’s so easy to mix up more than I want and then feel obligated to use it so it doesn’t go to waste.
I’ve been too chicken to try to do a resin ocean scene. “Why are you chicken?” you may ask. Because resin is a mess that’s hard to clean up if I get it everywhere. The likeliness that I WILL get it everywhere isn’t even a question. It’s 100%. I’m clumsy, I make messes everywhere, and I have a hard time cleaning up after myself. So for that reason I’ve been procrastinating resin. I don’t know when I’ll try it but hopefully it will be soon. I believe I have everything I need other than courage.
Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for tonight. Keep on painting on.
